"Oh Wankantanka, make me worthy!" Chief Yellow Hand, a Yakota warrior, says a prayer to the sun god Wankantanka. His tribe captured an English Lord who was first a slave and given the humiliating name of "Horse," but later became Chief himself when Yellow Hand was killed in a Shishone raid.
